Loved Mbaitu FM presenter Mercy Mawia passed away on ,Tuesday ,July 23rd while receiving treatment in a Nairobi Hospital. Her husband ,James Mwangi , was with her during her final moments and confirmed the heartbreaking news. The presenter last Facebook post was about not attending to friend’s wedding because of her illness .
She posted a dress she had already bought specifically for the wedding for a Kamba gospel singer Fortune Mwikali. She said how prepared she was to attend the wedding but fell sick and asked fans to pray for her.
“But who is Satan?I became sick to an extend i cannot attend to Safari Park and I’m here in Nairobi….Fortune Mwikali Princess, when I gain my strength back , I will come so that you will dress in your gown so we can take a picture .
Stephen Kasolo my Kilalais. We really organized the event ;please share a nice videos with me so that I can post it. What a wedding! I still can’t believe that I missed it. Satan you are hyena. Pray for me. I am not okay ,” she wrote
The radio station confirmed her death , that she had died during surgical procedure with her husband , Mr Mwangi, by her side.
“ It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing away of our drive show presenter, Ms Mercy Mawia, aka Kamuwetangi , passed on this morning while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital after being admitted to undergoing surgical procedure . Her husband , Mr Mwangi , who was was at her bedside , confirmed the death.” The station announced.
In a Facebook post ,he shared a video of the young presenter walking in the hospital ,where she even smiled , but sadly , later left the world. Mr Mwangi said that his wife had been sick . according to Mercy’s husband he says that , Mercy, his wife really fought hard and went for a extra mile to smile but she did not finish the race.
“ It was cut short by the evil hand of death , but trust Mercy , she kept the fire burning ,like the firebrands that she was , she kept the faith ,” he said.
“Even though she walked through the valley of shadow of death , Mercy took no prisoners; when she had to call out , it reverberated. Queens like you never die , they transition to be angels ,” he added.
